This 14 day voyage on board is an ideal opportunity to gain experience of ocean sailing as the vessel travels from Vilamoura on the Algarve via Lanzarote to Las Palmas off the coast of West Africa.
Lazy days and Watersports mixed with sailing into deep Atlantic water await you on this mini adventure, suitable for novices and the experienced sailor alike. No previous experience is required, just a thirst for adventure, meeting new friends and learning new skills or simply refining existing ones.
The resort of Vilamoura in the Algarve region of southern Portugal is best known for its large marina, golf course and casino. Vilamoura also boast fine beaches, red cliffs, Cerro da Vila archaeological museum has a ruined Roman villa with bathhouses and mosaics and the delightful fishing village of Olhos de Água. Vilamoura merges with the town of Quarteira, to the southeast, with more beaches.
Situated some 125km off the coast of West Africa in the Atlantic Ocean Lanzarote is the northernmost and easternmost of the Canary Islands of Lanzarote. With its unique landscape, Lanzarote offers tranquillity and silence and a peaceful oasis in an otherwise hectic world. A great place for water sport enthusiasts and wine aficionados as the island has some exceptional wineries and wines.
Las Palmas is a capital of Gran Canaria, one of Spain's Canary Islands off northwestern Africa. A major cruise-ship port, the city is known for duty-free shopping and for its sandy beaches. At Playa de Las Canteras, a coral barrier lines the beach and shelters swimmers. The annual Las Palmas de Gran Canaria carnival brings together flamboyantly costumed performers, music and dancing.
Joining the boat in Vilamoura mid-morning, after lunch the rest of the day will be spent settling into your accommodation and storing away your gear, meeting your fellow adventurers and crew. The evening will be leisure time so you can relax on-board or go ashore and experience Vilamoura. The following day after breakfast you will receive a safety briefing and spend the day getting acquainted with the boat and its operations before discussing the voyage and route planning.
Day 3 -7
After breakfast casting off, the boat head out from Vilamoura for our journey across to Lanzarote a distance of some 570nm. Taking turns on deck and at the helm you will under the guidance of the crew and skipper you will navigate and steer the boat. Setting the watch the boat sails on towards the coast of Morocco before skirting the coastline of Morocco. Time permitting boast will make stops along the way for re-supply and to overnight at either anchor or in port before arriving in Lanzarote. Our journey and route will be determined by weather and sea conditions the time.
After the journey the boat will anchor or call into port for 2 days well-earned shore leave, during this time you are free to go ashore or stay on board.
Leaving Lanzarote our journey continues along the coast line of Fuerteventura anchoring offshore in as and when the mood takes hold for evenings of quiet reflection, Watersports or venturing ashore, before arriving in Las Palmas and the voyage end.
