Stokey Woodall will be in The Azores teaching a 5-day shore based Ocean Theory course and a 1-day preparation lecture for the practical elements required to be executed at sea and submitted for scrutiny by the RYA. The day after arrival in Portsmouth, an RYA Ocean Examiner will be waiting to check your celestial observations taken on the passage. You will then take your oral exam – the final part needed to complete your Yachtmaster Ocean.
If you wish to just do the practical passage and oral exam this is also available as a package.
There is a maximum of 12 spaces, 3 per yacht, so book early!
Birthplace of Charles Dickens and home to other literary greats such as Arthur Conan Doyle and Rudyard Kipling, the city of Portsmouth is ideally located on the south coast. Steeped in naval and maritime history, Portsmouth has great nightlife, miles of waterfront packed with great places to eat and drink, a unique shopping experience, museums, art galleries and the iconic Emirates Spinnaker Tower at Gunwharf Quays.
For in-the-know travellers, the Azores have long represented a beckoning blip on the radar of possible destinations. But most people still know little, if anything, about this far-flung archipelago in the middle of the Atlantic. And yet it is hard to imagine a place better suited to nature lovers, fans of adventure Sailing, or anyone looking to get away from it all.
