Join us in 2020 when Yacht Songbird will be departing from Italy and sailing towards the famous port of Gibraltar, This will be a true sailing adventure where we plan there route based on the weather, we will take 12 days to complete our voyage stopping off in many ports en route including.
La Spezia is a port city in Liguria, Italy. Its 1800s maritime arsenal and the Technical Naval Museum, with ship models and navigational instruments, attest to the city’s seafaring heritage. The hilltop St. George’s Castle houses an archaeological museum with artifacts from prehistory to the Middle Ages. The nearby Amedeo Lia Museum exhibits paintings, bronze sculptures and illuminated miniatures in a former convent.
The island of Corsica is located in the Mediterranean Sea to the Southeast of the French mainland and to the west of the Italian Peninsula with a landscape of stunning cliffs, crystal clear turquoise waters and spectacular sandy beaches. Its capital Corte is dominated by a hilltop fortress overlooking a tiny warren of cobbled streets.
Sardinia is the second largest island in the Mediterranean Sea after Sicily and boasts a rugged landscape, incredibly clear seas and some of the finest beaches anywhere in the world.
Mahón, or Maó, is the capital of the Spanish island of Menorca. It’s known for its British-style Georgian houses and sheltered harbor. Santa María Church, with an ornate 19th-century organ, sits on central Plaça de la Constitució. Next to the church, the city hall has a Renaissance facade and a clock donated by the island’s first British governor. The Menorca Museum displays art and exhibits on the island's history.
Palma is a popular holiday destination and also the capital of Majorca and is located in the Western Mediterranean; The Gothic Santa María cathedral dominates the skyline overlooking the bay of Palma. Other famous landmarks include the Almudaina a Moorish-style Arab fortress converted to a royal residence and Bellver Castle is a medieval fortress with a distinctive circular shape. Palma has wonderful shops, cafes, bars, restaurants and nightlife.
Best known for its lively nightlife Ibiza is one of the Balearic Islands, despite its reputation Ibiza boasts numerous quiet villages, crystal waters, sandy coves and beaches, yoga retreats and rugged coastline.
The overseas territory of Gibraltar is located at the southern tip of the Iberian Peninsula northeast of the Strait of Gibraltar and is dominated by the Rock of Gibraltar, a 426m-high limestone ridge. Gibraltar is steeped in military history and boasts many fine attractions and museums as well as great shopping and many fine bars and restaurants.
Day 1 – La Spezia
On arrival the captain and crew welcome you aboard and will show you to your cabin. We will then enjoy a leisurely dinner and perhaps take a dip in the clear water. The first night on board will be spent in Harbour with time to go ashore.
Day 2 – The first part of the day will be spent getting to know the boat and crew and we will carry out safety briefings and learn basic skills required whilst on board before departing Marbella. We then sail on to our first destination on the island of Corsica located about 100 miles to the south. For the first time you will help hoist the sails and you’ll feel the winds giving the yacht speed over the deep blue water. At the end of the day we drop anchor in a secluded bay.
Day 3 – We will continue sailing along Corsica’s stunning coastline stopping in a bay for the night with time to explore.
Day 4 – We sail a little further to the south to reach Sardinia where we will be spending the night. Once we have moored for the night you are free to either stay on board relaxing or to go ashore and explore and enjoy the nightlife.
Days 5 –6 we will be setting sail into the Mediterranean where we will be settling into our night watches for two days at sea, during this time you will take turns both on deck and below..
Day 7 – Arriving in Mahon with time to explore
Day 8 – We set sail for Palma, arriving in Palma we will spend the night with time to dine on board and explore and enjoy the nightlife.
Day 9– Arriving in Ibiza with time to explore and enjoy the night life
Days 10 – 11 Depart Ibiza heading for Gibraltar, we sail towards our final destination. Upon arrival you are free to go ashore for a farewell celebration.
Day 12 - Arriving in Gibraltar we stow away the gear and tidy the boat before we say our farewells and depart Songbird
